Overall Anxiety Severity and Impairment Scale (OASIS)

Recommended frequency: Every 2 weeks

Summary

The Overall Anxiety Severity and Impairment Scale (“OASIS”) is a brief continuous measure of overall anxiety severity and impairment. The OASIS can be used across anxiety disorders, with multiple anxiety disorders, and with sub-threshold anxiety symptoms. This instrument is 5 questions long and well validated in multiple settings and populations.

Psychometric Properties

A cut-score of 8 correctly classifies 87% of a clinical population sample as having an anxiety diagnosis or not.

Scoring

Response items are coded from 0 to 4 and can be summed to obtain a total score range from 0 to 20.

Greenspace has provided the following guidance for scoring, which is based upon the answer keys in the assessment.  Note that these scoring ranges have not been validated through research.
